2021 Cat and Moon Bullet Journal
For the longest time, I didn’t know what theme to choose for my bullet journal this year. Until I saw my cat sitting on the windowsill, watching the moon. That’s how my Cat and Moon BuJo idea came to my mind for my 2021 Bullet journal setup.
1 JAN, 2021
This is my third year of bullet journalling, and I really like bullet journals from Flying Tiger. The price is right, and they work pretty well for me. But if you want to use your bullet journal more as an art journal, you might need to look for some higher quality paper journal brand. Find my list of supplies bellow.
If you prefer watching to reading, you are welcome to visit my YouTube channel and watch my Cat and Moon BuJo setup.
There are so many styles and setup pages which is a bit overwhelming if you are just starting out. My best advice is to do a little inspirational research and test all the pages you like for at least a year. Then you have time to find what works for you and what does not… there is no right or wrong, but everyone has different needs. In those three years, I have finally tuned up the setup that works for me.
- Inspirational Quote
- Reflections and Resolutions
- Index
- Goals
- Things to Do
- Year in Pixels and Ideal Habits
- Bookshelf and Things to Check Out
- New Words and Sentiments
- GYST and WISH Lists
- Crafty Ideas and Posts
- Year Planner
Inspirational Quote
I like to start my journals with an Inspirational Quote for the year. For the longest time, I didn’t know what theme to choose for my journal this year until I saw my cat sitting on the windowsill watching the moon. So my 2021 theme is cats and moon, and I found this neat fitting quote.
“The Sun watches what I do, but the Moon knows all my secrets.”
J. M. Wonderland
Reflections and Resolutions
The next page that seems to be working for me is Reflections on the past year and Resolutions for the new year. I know some people try to avoid negative words, but I am not practicing Newspeak. So besides my accomplishments are also things that I didn’t accomplish or just seriously f.. up… so I can learn from my mistakes. In the new year, I am usually full of ambitions and want to do a hundred things, learn everything and change things for the better… and because I am a bit of a hoarder I always plan on getting rid of some things.
Index
Somewhat automatically, I like to include the Index spread. Not that I use it that often for searching, but one never knows… keeps track of what month starts on what page and of some major events. Also if I set up some specific page where I am planning something or collecting information, it helps to find it later.
Goals
Next in line are Goals for this year, and I divide them into my most important categories. Just because I have so many and want to get them organized. I like to write down what is the next big step in my house reconstruction project, and what I want to change about my career. If I need to stick to any new healthy habits, or what is my next big thing in the garden, and do I get to travel ever again? What to do with all the money saved on Covid-Savings-Plan (no restaurants, no movies, no bars, no shopping)… what new art technique to attack this year. And my overall project I always wanted to do… will I get to it this year??
Things to Do
As for my Things to Do List this year, it’s funny. Two years ago, I started with 50 things to do. Last year, I cut it down to 20, and I was still not able to do them all. So I thought to have more realistic ambitions this year, and I will try only 15.
Year in Pixels and Ideal Habits
Then I found it useful, to keep a simple “Year in Pixels” tracker. It helps to keep track of the frequency of certain personal events. You can put there anything, using color coding, letter coding, or symbol coding. How often you have a headache, or when you go to the gym, or when you have sex, whatever. And I still have room left for my Ideal Habits. This is kind of a goal section for my habits. Like, wash dishes every evening, or don’t forget to have breakfast every morning, maybe post a video or a blog every week? I’m sure you have plenty of your habits to keep track of.
Bookshelf and Things to Check Out
My journal Bookshelf is getting smaller and smaller each year also. 🙂 It is hard to read so much with all of my other activities. I made room for 12 titles this year, and I am sure I will not manage to read a book a month. So I left the rest of the page for things, places, and links to Check Out.
New Words and Sentiments
As it might be obvious, English isn’t my native language. Therefore I keep a page in my journal to write down any interesting New Words I hear or read. This year I keep my collection of Sentiments on the same spread. There I collect all the smart, cool quotes I find.
GYST and WISH Lists
Somewhere I saw someone using the GYST list (Get Your Shit Together), and I thought it was hilarious and very fitting, especially for me. I have mine divided in half for things related to work and my personal life. And on the opposite side, I have a WISH list in the same style to write down all the things I would like to get this year.
Crafty Ideas and Posts
One spread I am trying to manage better this year is Crafty Ideas. I like to plan for my projects and posts here for CraftyHanded.com and for my new old YouTube Chanel.
Year Planner
My last setup spread is the Calendar Planner for the year. Here I have all the months overview with space underneath for planning way ahead. Long-term appointments and events.
And that’s all for my basic bullet journal setup. I hope you enjoyed it and got some inspiration from it. If you like it, please don’t forget to give me your thumbs up. If you don’t want to miss any of my regularly irregular posts, the best way is to hit that subscribe button, so you don’t miss it.
Supplies
Then I started thinking about what supplies to use. I searched the internet for colors of the universe, and I came across these absolutely stunning watercolors from Finetec. The set I am using for this journal is from the Coliro Pearlcolors line, and it’s called Galaxy. Here is the list of my supplies.
